Become the PM Who Actually Builds
I coach experienced product managers to become technical builder-leaders—able to design, prototype, and de-risk real products across web, mobile, data, AI, and more.
This is for you if...
You're a PM who:
- → Has solid experience in roadmapping, discovery, and stakeholder management
- → Feels "underpowered" when conversations turn to architecture, scale, security, or data
- → Wants to prototype ideas yourself instead of only writing tickets for others
- → Is excited about AI, but also cares about shipping any product that works: web apps, iOS, internal tools, data products, even hardware-connected systems
- → Is tired of being "the person who makes decks" and wants to be "the person who ships"
If that's you, this coaching is designed specifically around your reality.
What You'll Be Able to Do
By the end of a 3–6 month engagement:
Design credible solutions
Talk through system design, constraints, and tradeoffs with engineering in real terms.
Prototype real products
Use a practical toolkit (code / low-code / AI-assisted tools) to create working demos for:
Think in systems
Understand how frontends, backends, data stores, APIs, vendors, and AI components fit together—and where things break at scale.
Navigate scale, security & operations
Ask the right questions about performance, privacy, reliability, and cost so you can make better product decisions.
Level up your career narrative
Position yourself not just as a PM, but as a builder PM who can lead complex initiatives end-to-end.
How Coaching Works
Each engagement is tailored, but follows a proven arc:
Deep Dive & Anchor Project
We start with a 60–90 minute session where we:
- • Map your current role, skills, products, and constraints
- • Define your goals (e.g., "lead AI initiatives," "own our next platform redesign," "be promotable to Director+")
- • Choose 1–2 anchor projects from your real work that we'll use as the backbone of the coaching
Deliverable: 1-page Coaching Plan outlining outcomes, focus areas, and our cadence.
Systems & Architecture for PMs
You'll learn to see products as systems, not just features.
We'll cover:
- • How modern product stacks actually fit together: frontend, backend, data, infra, vendors, AI, hardware
- • How to sketch architecture diagrams at the right level of abstraction
- • Where complexity, cost, and risk live in your product
Deliverable: A high-level diagram of your own product to use as a conversation tool with engineering.
Prototyping Across Mediums
We make you dangerous with prototyping.
Depending on your context, we'll use a mix of tools to build v0s of real ideas:
- • Web prototypes (small code, low-code, or AI-generated scaffolding)
- • Clickable / mobile-ish flows for iOS concepts
- • Data experiments and dashboards
- • AI-enabled workflows where appropriate
- • Simple hardware-adjacent demos when relevant
Deliverable: At least one working prototype tied to your real roadmap.
Scale, Security & Ops Mindset
You don't have to be an SRE or security engineer—but you do need to think like one when it matters.
We'll walk through:
- • What changes at 100 vs 10,000 vs 1,000,000 users
- • Basic patterns for performance, caching, and resilience
- • How to think about authentication, authorization, and data privacy
- • Vendor / API risk, logging, and incident basics
- • How to design experiments and rollouts that are safe and reversible
Deliverable: Checklists and questions you can bring into every planning meeting.
Career & Org Leverage
Finally, we translate your new skills into durable career capital.
We'll work on:
- • Your internal narrative: how you describe what you now bring to the table
- • Proposals for small, high-value spikes or initiatives you can lead
- • 1–3 polished artifacts: an architecture overview, a prototype writeup, an internal talk outline
If we continue beyond 12 weeks, we shift into ongoing partnership: applying this toolkit to whatever your org throws at you.
About Your Coach
I'm a self-taught technologist with a degree in journalism who became CTO of a national GOTV nonprofit serving millions of users in under five years.
I've built and run web apps, data pipelines, AI experiments, and large-scale infrastructure in the real world—under real constraints, with real consequences.
I know exactly what it feels like to think "I'm not technical enough" and I know the path out. My work now is helping experienced product managers become the kind of builder-leaders I wish I'd had earlier in my career.
You're not getting a generic AI guru or a one-size-fits-all framework. You're getting a partner who will sit next to you, look at your actual product, and build with you.
Who I Work With
Good Fit
- ✓ You have 3+ years in product (or adjacent roles)
- ✓ You're currently working on a real product (B2B, B2C, internal tools, nonprofit, gov, etc.)
- ✓ You can commit to ~1–2 hours/week for calls and hands-on work
- ✓ You're willing to try, ship imperfect prototypes, and learn in public
Not a Fit
- ✗ Looking for a generic "intro to product management"
- ✗ Want a purely theoretical AI or architecture course
- ✗ Expect instant outcomes without doing any building yourself
Logistics & Pricing
Investment varies based on cadence and whether your company is sponsoring. Discounted rates for independent PMs paying out of pocket are sometimes available.
FAQ
Is this only about AI products?
No. AI is one tool we'll use when it's appropriate, but this coaching covers all types of products—web, data, mobile, hardware-involved, and more.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. We'll start from your current level and pick the right prototyping tools. Some clients end up writing small scripts; others stay in low-code tools. The goal is capability, not turning you into a full-time engineer.
Can my company pay for this?
Usually yes. Many clients expense this as professional development or coaching. I can provide a simple one-page overview and invoice for your manager / HR.
Do you work with teams?
Yes. I also offer fractional "technical product partner" support for orgs (coaching a group of PMs + helping run key initiatives). Mention this in your application if you're interested.
